Maxx Wilson

I am a Master's / PhD Student in Robotics at the University of Texas at Austin, where I work with the Human-Centered Robotics Lab under the guidance of Dr. Luis Sentis. In the past, I've worked on projects in a variety of areas, including Underwater Autonomous Vehicles, Surgical Robotics, Rehabilitation Robotics, and Autonomous Mobile Robots. I also have a long history in competitive robotics, which I stay closely involved with in my free time through volunteering, mentoring, and a committee I lead under UT IEEE RAS.

My primary research interest is in Trajectory Optimization and Model-Predictive Control for legged systems. That said, I'm often known to pick up a wrench or a soldering iron when needed. Making robots work in the real world is difficult and highly interdisciplinary, so I consider myself a student of many fields and I'm always ready to learn something new. To me, robotics is a "contact sport" and I am driven to see things implemented and working on real hardware.

I am fiercely passionate and detail-oriented. I love hard problems and creative solutions. I love my work deeply and I hope to collaborate with people who share that sentiment. I consider myself a people person.
